Around the end of January, Nomads Theatre Company in San Diego, California put out a call for short plays for an evening called VARIATIONS XIV. Each script required three things –
— The line of dialogue “That’s why I never told you” had to be included
— Lipstick had to be used as a prop
— It had to be about videogames
As someone who’s been playing videogames for over 30 years, I thought I’d give it a shot. I came up with a piece called “Betrayal Among The Grinning Gators” and sent it in.
Sadly, they didn’t accept it.
Life goes on. Time moved forward.
Then, lo and behold, a few days ago I received an e-mail from Nomads saying that they were going to be doing a sequel – VARIATIONS XIV-2. And they wanted to include my script!
So…
“Betrayal Among The Grinning Gators” will be performed this Saturday 4/26 at 3:00 and 8:00 at the 10th Avenue Theatre in San Diego. Tickets are just $5 ($10 if you want to attend the after-party and have pizza).
Be there or be forever banished to Tony Turtle’s Tower of Terror (a wacky level in the wacky game around which my wacky play revolves).
